movie night

I might have written a post about why I love being single, but one of the things I do miss about being in a relationship are the endless cinema dates. My friends rarely go to the cinema, but when I was in a relationship I'd go at least once, maybe twice, every week. Not going has definitely saved some pennies, but it means I've missed out on a few big releases!

I've been subscribed to Netflix for over a year now, but lately I've felt that I've watched everything worth watching on there, and that new releases rarely get added, so I was happy to receive an email a few months ago telling me all about Blinkbox, which is jam packed full of the latest releases, for both movies and TV shows!

Unlike other film and TV websites, you don't need a monthly subscription, and just pay for each movie or TV show as you go along. Prices start at 99p, but most new releases are £9.99 for a movie - which is more than I pay for Netflix, but less than you and your friend would pay to go to the cinema - even on an Orange Wednesday! I really enjoyed using the Blinkbox service to catch up on some films I missed out on at the cinema (oh my god, how amazing was Olympus has Fallen?!) and although I probably won't be renting films weekly, it's definitely something I'll be making use of again.

Whilst we're on the subject of films, please feel free to share your favourites as I love nothing more than a cosy movie night but usually find myself spending the whole evening trying to choose a film! ;)

  2. Ooh I'm desperate to watch Olympus has fallen, I agree about missing Cinema dates, I actually quite like the more sophisticated boyish action films but none of my girly friends will go see them! :( I may have to end up one of those creepers who goes by themselves! The horror!

  3. I like the sound of blinkbox! I have always wanted to try Netflix but I've heard the same from everyone as you said that they don't update films/programs very often! I hope you had a good movie night:)! I have been loving 'The Conjuring' I have watched it over and over its so good! xo

  4. Going to the movies with a partner is always such a fun thing to do, but I love sitting at home, snuggling in a bed with some yummy (and cheaper) snacks and watching TV (lately Breaking Bad)!

I'm not a big movie buff, but We're The Millers was HILARIOUS! I love TV series like Dexter and Breaking Bad.

  5. That's one of the things I miss about being in a relationship although there's plenty of things I don't miss lol. I rent movies from love film which for me was the cheapest option.

  9. Maybe I'm a bit sad but I LOVE going to the cinema alone. It always cheers me right up and you shouldn't feel deprived simple because you don't have someone to drag along! xo

  10. i love movie nights in either by myself or with my other half :) i prefer movie nights in as i'm in the comfort of my own room & we buy goodies that are cheaper from Asda & Tesco than going to the cinema were it costs you a bomb! - we save up if we want to go on a date night - which either involves dinner & a movie or something else depending where we are :)
Olympus has Fallen is an awesome film - i went to see it with my boyfriend & it was filled with enough action & Gerard Butler ;)
For nights in with myself watching films i go for the good old teen films; A cinderella Story, She's the man, Sex and the City, Jayne Eyre, Pride & Prejudice etc
But a few other favourites are World War Z, Along Came a A Spider, Double Jeopardy, Despicable Me - the list goes on haha but i hope this helped you :)
I hate trying to pick a film to watch too - so frustrating :P

  12. I love going to the movies alone or watching them at home alone, in fact I find it easier because no one else is worried about my reactions to the film. My favourite movies include My Best Friend's Wedding, 27 Dresses, Dirty Dancing and The Wedding Date (to name a few) I can watch them 1000 times over!
