r&b hair moisturiser

I recently picked up this conditioner from Lush. Apart from I Love Juicy, I haven't tried many hair care products from Lush so when a friend told me how impressed she was with their conditioners I thought I'd pick one up.

I suffer from really dry ends so I chose the R&B Moisturiser which revives the hair and balances the scalp and is suitable for all dry or curly hair types. Although my ends are dry, I have really fine, naturally straight hair and I found this product to be too heavy to use throughout the day for a boost like the Lush website suggests. I also found it too heavy to apply close to my scalp as it really weighs my hair down.

Instead I've been combing it through my hair from the mid length to the ends and using it twice weekly as an overnight treatment before washing my hair in the morning. I don't like how this product leaves my hair feeling immediately after applying. It feels sticky and looks wet and greasy for about an hour before it soaks in, however after an hour my hair looks a lot healthier and my ends are no longer dry. Although I wake up with silky smooth hair and not a split end in sight, my hair definitely feels greasy in the morning, which is why I always use this before washing my hair.

Unlike most other Lush products I really don't like the smell of this product either. With essential oils like bay and orange flower absolute it smells very musky and floral, almost like a perfume my Gran would wear.

At £10.95 I won't be buying this conditioner again. I think it would be good product (if you can get past the smell) for those with an afro or extremely thick, dry hair but it definitely wasn't suited to my own hair type.

  2. Tat's a shame...this is my favourite moisturiser from lush, but I have afro type hair, I do recommend it for thick afro hair though. x

    1. I did imagine it would be amazing for afro type hair, it's great to know that it is! :) x

  3. I've never used this, or smelt it, so I can't really judge that, but I do like the sound of it. Years of bleaching & dying means my hair is in horrendous condition, and I have such thick hair, this may do the trick x

    1. I'd say it's worth a try. Lush are usually quite good at handing out samples so maybe ask for one before buying? x

  4. Hmm, it sounds reassuring that it moisturizes dry ends. I have that every now and then, so I'd definitely appreciate that. But, the feeling of it sounds off, based off of what you said. I can't stand greasy things or products that make me feel greasy. XD
Just stumbled upon your blog, and I really like it! Hope we keep in touch~

    1. The smell and the feeling definitely put me off but I still like the results and don't mind using it as an overnight treatment. Lush are generous when it comes to samples so definitely go to a store and try some if you're interested. :) Thank you, I'll check out your blog too! x

    1. I definitely want to try some solid shampoos, they sound great! I thin this is one of the only Lush products I haven't liked that much. x

  6. I have this and whilst it does help the dryness of my hair, I just can't stand the smell! x

    1. Glad it's not just me! I usually find myself spraying some other conditioning product which smells nice into my hair at the same time to try and mask the smell haha. x

  8. I was looking at hair care in Lush just the other week but didn't purchase anything - and by your review I'm quite glad I didn't purchase this. Sounds like we have similar hair types so if it didn't work for you there's a high chance it wouldn't work for me.

  11. I had a very similar experience with this product - it's been sitting unused in my room because I just can't get past the smell! First product I've been disappointed with when it comes to Lush...
