foaming tea tree cleanser

I've mentioned before that I don't like using tea tree products because in the past they've made my dry skin worse, but after trying these tea tree toner tabs I got brave and ordered this cleanser from The Body Shop in their 40% off sale.

My skin is dry, but I've always been blessed with a clear complexion. That was up until November, when I got a hideous breakout which wouldn't go away. I've tried more skincare products since then than I can count, and none have helped at all - not even my holy grail of Angels on Bare Skin. I don't have lots of spots, but the ones I do have are red and those stubborn under the skin type that don't ever seem to to disappear, particularly around the jawline.

After my first use of this cleaner, which foams as you squirt it out, I wasn't impressed. It didn't leave my face feeling overly clean, didn't leave my skin feeling super soft, it just didn't feel like it had done anything. Because of this I didn't think it would help my skin at all but I kept using it anyway. After about 2 weeks of use, I noticed that the stubborn spots around my jawline that had been there for a month were barely visible. The red marks left by some of the worst blemishes, which had been there since before Christmas (!!!), had also been reduced significantly and I noticed my skin was a lot clearer and needing less concealer in the mornings.

I do still have a few bumpy areas and a few red marks which are annoying, but I'm feeling much happier with my skin and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and the return of my clear skin.

If you suffer from breakouts then I definitely recommend trying this cleanser. I imagine it would be suitable for all skin types, and although it doesn't hydrate my dry skin, it definitely doesn't dry it out like I expected.

  1. I use this, after having a sudden batch of break-outs. I don't have dry skin generally, but my cheeks get quite dry. I've found this doesn't help dryness by any manner of means, and I do notice it if I get lazy about moisturising! I think as long as you're religious with the moisturiser though, this is really good.

    1. I'm religious with moisturiser anyway because my skin is so dry so I haven't noticed it drying my skin out any more, fingers crossed that keeps up! x

  2. I am loyal to Coalface from Lush - every day as soon as I get home so get rid of all the nasty things flying around in cities - and I'm happy with it. Do try Coalface if you haven't!

    1. What type of skin do you have? Coalface is good for oily skin and mines is dry so I'm worried it would dry it out as it does seem quite rough?

    1. Thank you so much! I really liked the tea tree cleanser but I must say after using them for a while now they haven't done anything to my skin. They do feel nice to use though! x

  4. My skin sounds quite similar to yours - usually it's quite good but when I do get a spot it stays for ages and leaves a horrible red mark when it finally goes away! Will definitely have to look out for this next time I'm buying skincare products, it sounds really good.

    1. Yeah it's so annoying! I'm really hoping they don't leave scars or permanent red marks! Will let you know if this continues to work for me. x

  5. I've been using Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish for nearly 2 weeks now and I can definitely see an improvement! I've never tried bodyshop for face care, but maybe I will try this as a cheaper alternative.

    1. I've heard so many good reviews of Cleanse & Polish but for some reason I've never thought of buying it. Do you think it's worth the money then? I might try it once I run out of this bottle.
