february joliebox

jane iredale lip and cheek stain | lavera organic hand cream
macadamia deep repair masque | rmk cleansing oil | taaj himalaya micellar water

After receiving a disappointing Glossybox this month, I was really looking forward to Joliebox, which is my favourite beauty box subscription. It has to be said though, I wasn't massively impressed with this box either.

The first thing I noticed was that they'd changed the packaging. As I've mentioned before, it's the little details like the ribbon and the delicate tissue paper packaging that I really enjoy about beauty boxes. I buy them as a treat, and having them nicely presented, ready for you to unwrap feels like a treat. Having them sat in the bottom of a bag doesn't feel quite as special.

I think these are all very practical products, quite safe choices that most people would use, but like Glossybox nothing seems to stick out for me this month. Hand creams and water based make up removers are two products that I use already. The ones provided in the box work well, but aren't anything amazing. I haven't used the cleansing oil yet, but I have used the hair repair masque and my hair is feeling in much better condition after just one use. I really like Macadamia products.

The products will all get used, except from the Jane Iredale lip and cheek stain which comes up a neon pink on my skin which is a shame, as it'd be handy to carry around in your bag. It does change colour depending on your mood and temperature (how does that work?!) so I might try it again.

I still feel like cancelling all my beauty box subscriptions and part of me is wondering if it's because the novelty has worn off. I wonder if I had received this box a few months ago, when I had just started subscribing to beauty boxes, if I had felt any differently towards it?

    1. I think I'm just going to cancel both of my subscriptions now. I don't agree that they put products in and don't think that we will like them, I just think they selected some very 'easy' products that everyone would like, but that are a bit boring.

    2. This is very true. I'm starting to think I'd be better off just canceling and if I see someone post about something I really like then I'll get my ass to the shops and buy it with the £12 I just saved! x

  2. I love Macademia products and I found the Jane Iredale one quite interesting but agree I'm getting a bit jaded with boxes, cancelled Glossybox last month and Joliebox this month, I'm kind of of the opinion if there is something I really want to try I can try and get it in a swap or buy it x

    1. That's the way I'm starting to feel too. I don't think it's the boxes that have got less exciting, it's just me getting bored. x

    1. yeah, I'm getting bored of them and a lot of others are too. I wonder if Feel Unique did the right thing by cancelling theirs before everyone jumps off the bandwagon?

  5. I dont sub to any of the boxes. I feel alot of them have just jumped on the bandwagon and have stopped caring what products their sending out, and have forgotten why they actually were started in the first place. However i still read the blogposts and watch the youtube reviews and if theres anything that i think i really would like to try i pop out and grab it. x

  6. Macadamia Deep Repair is amazing! My hairdresser is amazed at the condition of my bleached hair since using this.

  7. I don't sub to any of the boxes but I really want to! I don't know which to start with though, and I also know I probably wouldn't be that bothered about the products so shouldn't bother!

  8. I feel exactly the same about this box, and the Glossy Box too. I've cancelled both my subscriptions as I never really get excited about the boxes any more and don't end up using most of the products. It's a shame the lip & cheek stain didn't work well for you, it's my favourite product from this box!
I've just come across this site (http://www.latestinbeauty.com/) which I'm tempted to sign up for instead as you seem to be able to choose which products you get sent and it looks like better value for money. I've not seen any bloggers talking about it though so I'm not sure if it's good or not!

  9. I can totally see what you mean about the packaging. I just started subscribing to a couple of boxes here. I've gone into it with the idea that I probably won't like or want everything so if I don't, I'll pass it to a friend. I kind of like just getting something in the mail that isn't a bill or work related. However, the opening up to discover a beautiful box with items carefully wrapped in paper is really the thrill for me. I don't think I would like it so much if it were just in an empty or unflattering box.

  10. I quit this box ages ago, I don't think it's good for me. I find the products aimed at older age groups. x

  12. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates the bag. I thought ribbon and tissue felt special. I was fairly happy with BP before they were bought out, but am switching to glossybox. I feel joliebox isn't finding nice specialist products, they seem to get whatever they can find. I feel some of their more ethnic brands are to save money rather than bring us something luxury.

I chose them over glossybox to get high end over brandnames, but not happy with products, other than the Jane irdale and new cid. Also, samples went from 6 to 4-5. They didn't handle the mask fiasco well either. Let's hope GB is okay, I like the harrods box.
