february glossybox

paul mitchell round trip | como shambhala invigorate lotion
dr bronner's magic soaps | bm beauty eyeshadow | duwop lipgloss

It's that time of the month again - Glossybox time. To be honest, I was going to cancel my Glossybox subscription but after the amazing box I received last month, I decided to keep it for a little longer. This months offerings didn't live up to the last months and I wasn't overly impressed with what I received to be honest.

The one thing about this box that put a big smile on my face was actually reading the description of Dr Bronner's Magic Soap, which I've included a photo of for you to read. This mysterious product has 18 different uses, including toothpaste, household cleaner and shampoo, however the packaging isn't too clear about the uses. Instead it contains a rather odd description including the following: "Enjoy body rub to stimulate body-mind-soul-spirit and teach the essene Moral ABC uniting all free in the shepherd astronomer Israel's greatest ALL-ONE-GOD-FAITH! This definitely made me laugh! Not sure whether this is something I'd use, it seems a bit strange and it smells of Vicks VapoRub.

I also received a Paul Mitchell curl defining product which is what I'm most looking forward to trying, as I've been curling my hair a lot recently and finding that the curls aren't lasting as long as I'd like. The Body Lotion will get used, for me body lotion is handy to have but it's not overly exciting to receive. The eyeshadow is a really nice golden colour, very pigmented and it also gets bonus points for being vegan and cruelty free! BM Beauty isn't a brand I've heard before either, but I'll definitely be checking out their website. And finally, the Duwop lip gloss which isn't a colour I'd wear.

Overall, I would use 3 out of 5 of the products, but unlike other boxes nothing stands out and it doesn't really have the wow-factor. I think beauty boxes are all so random and hit/miss anyway and it crosses my mind every month to cancel my subscriptions and spend the money I save on product(s) I do want to try, but there's always something to lure me in for another month, this month being the mention of a special mystery box available on the 24th of February.

Did you receive a Glossybox this month? What did you think?

  2. They always win you over with that one amazing box and you continue on to subscribe in hopes of topping that one box! All these beauty boxes are sooo dangerous for my wallet but I can't help it! I love surprises too much haha.

  3. I cancelled my subscription after the valentines one because it felt like after that one and the xmas one I was pushing my luck hoping for 3 great boxes in a row. I don't regret my decision as honestly I doubt I'd use any of the products in this box. The mystery box is intriguing but surely every monthly box is a mystery until they get sent out? I'm not sure what the super exciting feature is... *confused* I might rejoin in the future but for now I'd rather buy a MAC shadow than get bath salts and hand cream that will just turn into clutter in my room.

  5. I wasn't impressed by this month's box either, everything seemed a bit blah. I'm a bit miffed that some people received a Becca lip/cheek stain as well! Glossybox is a bit hit and miss for me, some months I love it and some months I'm just not interested.

  6. I only signed up to glossybox this month but I'm finding a bit underwhelming. When it arrived I was super excited because of all the nice packaging, but once you get past that it's a bit average. I'm also finding I'm getting a bit jealous when other people get better things than me. For example, your gold eye shadow looks great, but I received a black one I'm not going to get much use out of. Having said that, I did like the shower gel, will be checking that out again.

  7. I cancelled my subscription after the Xmas box purely because I didn't really want to disappoint myself with any more nail wraps that I'll never use.
Defo liking the eyeshadow and curling product but I can almost guarantee that had I still been subscribed, I'd have gotten the other box with rubbish products haha!

  8. I was a little bit disappointed with this box but I guess we have to accept that not every box is going to be amazing. I'm still keeping my subscription for glossybox but I have cancelled one of the others.

  9. To be honest I'm quite glad I'm not a subscriber! I know they're samples and it always annoys me when people go crazy and start yelling all over twitter that it's an awful box, because, well, they're samples! What do people expect? Buuuut I also don't agree with how they sometimes try and lure people in, if there's a bit of a crap box one month they seem to be aware of this and include some sort of info about how the next box is going to be FANTASTIC. Which to be fair may be slightly true, but at the end of the day it's £12, it's not going to be as FANTASTIC as they make out.

Oh god rant over! As if I've just used your blog to get on my soapbox! And after all that I wouldn't actually mind trying the curl stuff either! : )

  10. i use dr bronners all the time! you can litterally use it for everything but i mostly go with make-up brush cleaner (when i do a once a week deep clean) or body wash. But i did use it to hand wash clothes once and it was amazing.
I think it works best as brush shampoo because it is all natural and made from essential oils so it really looks after natural bristles.

They do other scents. I love the almond or rose or lavender :) xx

  11. what a strange thing to write on a product, couldn't make sense of it at all! 18 uses though, wow :O

  12. Totally agree that the glossy boxes have become a bit dissapointing. This one in particular. Getting body lotions really isn't exciting and, for me, that lip-gloss doesn't taste very nice! Hopefully next month's will be a bit better.

  13. I actually just started to use Dr Bronners after seeing it on multiple Pinterest pages! I originally used it as a body wash but have since started to play around with its other uses. One thing I found that it works amazing for is cleaning makeup brushes! It's gentle enough that it doesn't hurt them but does an amazing and quick job when it comes to cleaning them of all the left over makeup! As for the 18 uses, I actually looked it up before and you can find them here : http://www.drbronner.com/faqs_main.html#faq10
