january carmine box

(please ignore my horrible nails! i've been too busy this week to fix them!)

korres wild rose 24-hour moisturising & brightening cream | eldora false eyelashes

I'm subscribed to Glossybox and Jolie Box already, but when I saw a promotion to receive a Carmine box for just £5 (click this link to get it for yourself) I had clicked 'buy' in a matter of seconds! I don't need another beauty box subscription, but at £5, whatever you receive inside will be worth it. Or at least that's the way my mind works.

I received it yesterday and my initial thoughts were that it was very similar in terms of packaging (albeit a with a larger box) and image as it's competitors. Same ribbon and tissue paper sealed with a brand sticker idea, although I did feel like the colour scheme wasn't as luxe as the rest. One thing that I think could be improved was the layout of the products inside. They look a bit swamped in the large box and stacked on top of each other, hidden under a promotional flyer, they just didn't give an amazing first impression when I opened it.

That's just me being picky though - it's what's inside that really matters and I must say, I was impressed with selection of products in this box. There might not be a 'star product' like with other boxes, but there's not one product that I won't use! There's a good mixture of skincare and beauty products too.

I've used the facial oil three times now, and find the little rollerball mechanism (similar to a roll-on deodorant) a bit annoying as it feels like barely any product is coming out. It does leave my skin feeling soft, but I just don't have the patience to roll a tiny ball onto my face for 5 minutes. The moisturiser is great though, probably one of the best I've used. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated all day, even my problem areas which are usually dry and flaky by the evening. I used the Eyeko fat stick and although the colour is nice (a lovely grey tone with silver shimmer) it had creased and worn off slightly within 4 hours. Maybe one to try with a primer!

I am glad I subscribed to this box and tried out Carmine, the Eyeko stick alone retails at £10 so I've definitely got my £5 worth! I had been planning on unsubscribing to either Glossybox of Jolie Box, but now I feel like I want to try a few more Carmine boxes.

Does anyone receive Carmine monthly? What's your opinion?

  1. I already subscribe to Carmine and haven't had a box yet that I dislike :) For £5 this is definitely worth your money too. I use the boxes to keep my stuff organised in my chest of drawers :P

  4. I have been trying to decide for a while which beauty box to subscribe to, this seems to be a great starting point based on the price alone! Do you have a 'favourite' beauty box?

    1. I think they can all be a hit miss, there's going to be some products you don't like no matter which brand you sign up to but I'd say I probably prefer the Boudoir Prive boxes on a whole. They've just changed over to Jolie Box though, but their first box in December was still brilliant!

  6. I always thought that Carmine was £10 like the others! Slightly tempted to sign up for it seeing as they always have lots of make up. Although I have to say they do seem to really be hit and miss...So far Glossybox has been the most consistent but I am very excited to see what Joliebox does! xx

  7. I got the Carmine box with the £5 code too, and I'm pretty impressed with the contents. I think Carmine, Glossybox, and Boudoir Prive are all of a very similar standard - some months you get great products, but there's always a couple that you'll never use. I really can't justify 3 beauty boxes every month though, so I'm going to decide which to keep after the next Glossybox and Joliebox arrive!

  14. I've always been a bit anti eyeko since the fat balm smelt like melting candles and had pretty much the same effect on my cheeks as I would have gotten from rubbing a red candle all over my face. Howeverrrr I am tempted to try something else from them now they've rebranded, wish I'd subscribed to this box now!

  16. Great blog!

Have been considering investing in the Calmane beauty box but im stll unsure.
Do you think its worth it?

They are doing a half price promotion for 1st time subcribers …. Still not sure though your thoughts on previous boxes would be a big help.
