angels on bare skin

I showed you my collection of Lush products in this post last week and mentioned that I was going to review a different Lush product each week. I thought I'd start off with one of my favourites and a cult classic, Angels On Bare Skin.

Lush describe Angels On Bare Skin as an 'angelic and medieval cleansing wash with rose and lavender'. It smells very fresh and the lavender gives it a really nice herbal smell too. As you take it out of the pot the texture is quite squishy and when you dampen it and mush it up a little in the palm of your hand the crushed almonds create a lovely moisturising almond milk which is easily massaged onto your face with minimal mess. A little goes a very long way too - I've had this pot for over 1 month!

Although this is one of my favourite Lush products, I haven't actually been using it for that long, maybe 3 or 4 months at most but I wish I had started using it sooner! Before trying it I didn't have much of a skincare routine. Sure, I'd tried various cleaners but never really notice them doing anything for me. After using Angels On Bare Skin a few times I still hadn't noticed any benefits from it but after about 1 week of using it twice daily I noticed my skin feeling softer, my dry patches had cleared up, my red patches weren't as visible and my pores were clearer and smaller than usual.

My complexion is mostly clear anyway and I rarely get spots, but when I do... they're BIG and they're RED and they're near impossible to conceal on my pale skin. I usually break out when I'm stressed, tired or after a particularly indulgent weekend and this is where this product really shines. Spots are visibly reduced within 1 day and usually completely gone within 2-3 days of using this product twice daily. It's what every cleanser is advertised to do, but never does! I honestly think it helps to prevent spots as well because thinking about it now, I can't remember the last time I had a spot.

I would definitely recommend this to people with dry skin, and especially those who suffer from break outs or clogged pores. It can be a little bit rough on your skin what with being an exfoliator too, so for those with sensitive skin I would recommend Aqua Marina which as far as I can tell (I got a few sample pots that I used for 2 weeks) does the same job but is super smooth and doesn't have the same grainy texture that the crushed almonds give Angels On Bare Skin.

A 100g pot of Angels On Bare Skin costs £5.95, but Lush are always happy to give you a free sample pot to try before you buy it if you're unsure. I also love that you can return 5 little black pots and get a free face mask!

Have you tried Angels On Bare Skin or any of the other cleansers from Lush?

  3. So many people swear by Lush products but I've never tried them just because I think they're weird concepts especially some of the fish related things I've seen instore. I do have very dry skin so I'll have to look into this.

  5. I'm the same with blemishes and tend to 'over kill' using tea tree products that really dries out my skin. This sounds great, I'll def be asking for a little tester next I get to Lush.

  8. Lushie over here! We all love Angels because it just lasts and lasts and lasts. A nifty experiment to try is to use your normal face wash on the back of one hand, and Angels on the other. The Angels hand will feel softer and more moisturised because it doesn't have any nasty drying soaps :)

ps: I think Beth above means Aqua Marina... It looks a bit like sushi as it comes with a seaweed coating, but I promise it doesn't smell like fish! PLUS! The Kaolin in Aqua means it can be used as a quick 5-minute mask to draw out impurities - 2 products in one, bonus!

  16. This looks gorgeous to use, my skin care routine is so random and I really want to get into something fixed that I know works. I think I'll give this a try because you sound like you have a similar skin type and skin issues to me and £5.95 is nothing really when you consider how much you can pay for absolutely useless products! Really well reviewed, thankyou!
