I've just spent the best part of today filing false nails to size, painting them and now that I've finally stuck them onto my nails I just want to tear them off again! I've never used false nails before but I got the idea from one of Gem's Tuesday Tips (read it here) and the plan was to do a simple leopard print pattern on my first attempt, and if successful I would try something mega complicated that I couldn't do on my real nails next time. Err, don't think I'll be doing that.
I think they look great, but they're just far too long and make everything so awkward. I can't type on my touchscreen phone, nor can I type on the computer keyboard (work is going to be fun tonight, ugh!), use my camera... and lets not even think about dealing with tights or kirby grips. The idea of painting nail art onto false nails is genius, especially if like me you've got weak nails that don't grow very long naturally. I will probably try it again in a few months, maybe with some much, much, much shorter nails.
Ah well, 1 hour until I leave for work.. lets see how much I can file these down! Those of you who wear long-ish false nails quite a lot, how do you do it?! Is there a certain brand that are better than others? I used the Kiss 100 Pack in medium oval length.
Oh my goodness Charlene, these are amazing! You must a lot of patience. I love the shape of them too, I'm going to check out the link

I've always wanted to try this! My problem is screwing up when I have to use my left hand. I think they look great though, even if they do leave you incapeable of doing anything! X
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! I've never worn false nails, too fiddly for me, but it's such a good idea to do the pattern on them first! xx
ReplyDeleteSirens and Bells
Thats insanely good! You must have the patience of a saint hehe.

The pattern is fabulous, it's a shame the false nails are so fiddly to do anything :(
ReplyDeleteI do like the idea of practising nail art on fake nails, you should definitely try them on your shorter nails xoxo
I have exactly the same problem when I wear fake nails. Its such a pain! Those do like really gorgeous pattern though xx
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic! Like you, I can't handle falsies though :/ In theory, they're great, but they're just not practical!
ReplyDeleteAhh they look amazing! Shame you can't get used to them! Took me a while when I had proper nail extensions for prom and then I've never had them done again haha. They were a pain!
ReplyDeleteI always find that with false nails, so hard to do day to day things! But I love this design.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at work! :D xx
They look uh-mazing! I wouldn't be able to cope with false nails at all, I don't understand how anyone manages to wear them and get things done at the same time!

Ahh these look amazing, well done! Thanks for the linkage!
ReplyDeleteMine were much shorter than that, have you thought of just filing them down more? With a bit of patience they'll be super short and much more practical. Shame to waste all your fab hard work.
Another benefit I found to falsies, they didn't chip - at all! Stayed perfect for a good week until they started coming a bit unstuck.
xx
They look amazing!! Think I might just have to try, but will definitely be filing them waaaay down!!

Ooooh they look really fab!!
ReplyDeleteI'm useless with false nails too, I don't understand how people can wear them all the time! Love the design you did though, the background colour is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWow I really love the pattern, wish I could do it so neatly and nicely.
ReplyDeleteI´m with you on the false nails matter though, I don´t think I could stand them either x
They look absolutely amazing, though!
ReplyDeleteI use falsies all the time nowadays - not sure what brand/style you're using here, but Kiss Short Square or Active Oval (depending on your preference for shape) aren't too limiting! I guess it's just a personal thing, though, some people just don't get on with them!
oh my words charlene! i will be asking you to paint me up a pair soon...i just don't have the skill to do this. i love me some long nails. prrr xox
ReplyDeleteThey look so good. If you file them down I'm sure they'll be amazing (:
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous and I can reassure you that you'll get used to them with persistent wear. I wear acrylics none stop now and have done for a year and a bit, in the first month they drove me crazy but now I couldn't imagine life without them haha! You've done a wonderful job with the designs too, you should do it as a little side earner!

So nice! x
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing! Love the colour! x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! But yeah I hate fake nails, I always file them right down and then they're usually the length of my nails anyways x
ReplyDeletethey look great! and false nails take a bit of getting used to but seriously by the next day they feel much better and in a few days you won't even notice you're wearing them!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you actually painted these yourself! They look amazing and turned out really, really well.
