week in photos #13

001-002. Monday saw me and some old school friends catch up together for the first time in over four years and since it was sunny we drove down to Largs where we played in the arcades (and didn't win any Hello Kittys, rubbish!) and went down to the river and skimmed stones and took some photos with my Lomo. It might have been sunny but the wind was crazy, so we didn't stay long. I love going to Largs, it's a Summer tradition to have as many road trips to Largs as possible but I don't think I've ever been when it's not windy!

003. I also spent a night in with the same group of friends where we drank our way through a lot of alcohol and played ring of fire. We made a rule where every time you said someone's name you had to drink, and then a second rule of every time you took a drink you had to hop on the spot. Things got verrry funny..

004. I FINALLY MASTERED CUPCAKE SWIRLS! Who knew it, all I needed was a Wilton 1M tip. I tried out the Hummingbird Bakery chocolate cupcake recipe for the first time and it was the best chocolate cupcake I've ever had. I actually only ate 1 of the cupcakes, the rest were devoured by family members and work colleagues!

005. I finally got my new phone on Wednesday. My Blackberry has been gradually dying on me for the past few months and it just seemed like forever until I was able to upgrade. I decided to go for the HTC Desire HD and although it's absolutely massive I'm really liking it. It's taking a while to get used to the touch screen keypad though and I think I've sent a fair few texts that deserve a place on Damnyouautocorrect.com

006. I went to see Limitless with Martina on Tuesday and really enjoyed it. It was a great concept - a pill that makes use of your full brain power, makes you insanely intelligent, motivated and successful would be fantastic but even if there were no side effects (in the film you would die if you stopped taking it) there would definitely be downsides. We also got some free Ben & Jerrys ice cream because it with their annual free cone day, I might have discovered a new favourite - Fairly Nuts!

007. Yesterday I went to my first ever bloggers event. We were treated to a mad hatters tea party (complete with popping candy cupcakes and purple sponge cake!), some pampering treatments and a performance of Alice. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, even if I did let my shyness get the better of me at times! I want to post a bit more about the day later on in the week, so won't say too much just now!

  13. Stacey - I'm hoping for a sequel too. There are a few questions about the ending that I'd like answers to! The cupcakes were really easy, you should definitely try them! x

Ann - I ended up going out last night even though I was absolutely knackered from yesterday, NOT GOOD. Was lovely meeting you too, thanks again for the invite! xx

Michelle - They are, and you hardly ever win! They're such a con haha :( The whole week was great - hopefully we get an AMAZING hot summer <3 x

Rachel - I already have 2 of them which I won another time, so it's not like I really needed a third. ;) x

TolerateThis - Thank you! Not bad for a first proper attempt! x

Jen - Ooh I can see why you thought that! :) Thank you x

Kuleigh - It was brilliant, is it not showing in your town? x

Nicola - Yep, it was supposed to look like a rose so I'm glad you think it does! It's really simple, here's the video I watched before trying it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fydx05yTdMc x

Cherry - I put in £1 for 4 shots, won a kitty on my first shot, couldn't get a refund and then won another kitty on my second shot haha! It was great fun, I'm sure you'll get to go to one soon x

Anna - I've won 2 in the past but the machines are such a fix. I'd hate to think how much I spent trying to win one.. You're better off just buying one I think ;) x

  19. Your cupcakes look beautiful :D I have tried to master swirling buttercream so many times, but I'm just useless at it! I always end up scraping it off and just smearing some on instead :P

  28. ooh the mad hatters tea party sounds fab and i love that first photo! x

  29. I have the Hummingbird book and those cupcakes taste fantastic, mine had icing unceremoniously blobbed on top instead of beautifully swirled like yours though! The mad hatter's tea party sounds like fun :) x

  30. Isn't it really satisfying when you finally 'get' cupcake swirls? I whooped for about half an hour.

  31. Sophie - I love them too, think I've only won something twice though - hate to think of how much money I've put in them! I think the 10p machines are so much more addictive though :) x

Vicki - Yes! A free scoop, and you can rejoin the queue for more as many times as you like - it's amazing! :D Ben & Jerrys do it every April x

    Gem - Thank you :) x

Rae - I know what you mean, the arcades near me have some crappy stuff too! x

Emily - Limitless is probably the best film out just now. So good. They have free cone day ever year, so nice! x

Giddynici - It's such a nice little seasidey town isn't it? I hope you got some Nardinis ice cream, hehe! x

Alex - I've been trying to get swirls either. I haven't changed my 'technique', it's all down to the Wilton tip. Definitely get one, they're like £3 on ebay. x

SP - I'd definitely send you one if they could be emailed! :D x

Claire - Yes definitely! I was looking at all the treatments last night and trying to decide what I want. Definitely thinking a whole day of relaxation sounds good. Limitless is definitely the right thing to do, your boy probably won't appreciate Bradley Cooper as much as we would though! x

    Gem - You'll LOVE it! x

Eda - Ooh, what will you be baking? Baking is the best way to spend a weekend! I got an email with an invitation from the blogger who was organising it. x

Helen - Thank you! I've ordered some disposable bags from ebay but these were doing using a cheapy £1 shop bag. The grease from the icing soaked through it and made such a mess, ugh. x

Stundon - Definitely get one - it's the key to perfect swirls! x

Angela - This was my first visit of the year… First of many! ;) Glad you enjoyed Alice too! x

Grace - I love reading other peoples weeks in photos too, I'm so nosey! I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually cries with laughter at that website! x

Head over heels - It was brilliant! Thank you :) x

Faye - I don't have the books but every recipe I've found online is fantastic so I think I should get the books. I usually blob my icing on too, haha! x

Thrifty Mrs - It is SO satisfying! I think I sent about 10 picture messages to friends saying "look!! i've done it, at last!!!" haha ;) x
