i love juicy... i really do!

This shampoo from Lush is a miracle product. I've had to wash my hair every single day (and I'm not exaggerating) for the past 4-5 years, simply because it gets greasy really quickly. Sometimes I even wash it twice a day if I'm going out that night. Oh, and dry shampoo doesn't work. At all.

Yes, I know that this is supposed to be really bad for your hair but I am literally addicted to washing it. I obsess over it and I feel awful if I don't wash it. I worry when I stay out for the night because I won't be able to wash my hair in the morning and it's awkward trying to explain to someone why you really, really really need to wash your hair. Countless people have told me that if I was to stop washing it so often it would stop becoming greasy so quickly but they don't realise how difficult that would be. There's been times where I've stayed at home for a few days and I've not bothered washing it, but in all honesty it didn't help the problem and it just left me feeling miserable and dirty so I started washing it again.

I had previously tried Jumping Juniper, another of Lush's shampoos designed to combat grease, but it didn't work at all. I was recommended I Love Juicy by a girl in Lush (after she told me that I should try not wash my hair for a few days to stop it becoming so greasy, ahhh...) last week and after a week of washing my hair daily I'm seeing change! I woke up this morning and guess what? I didn't need to it! Infact, I didn't even need to brush my hair. It was bouncy, shiny and there wasn't the slightest sign of any grease. If you compared the photo above to one of me the day after washing my hair before I started using this shampoo you'd see a huge different. But there's no way I'd share any photos of it, sorrrrry. ;)

I haven't noticed much difference in the overall condition of my hair as despite all the washing my hair is still soft and in good condition. It does seems to be slightly more fluffy than I'd like, but it has a lot more volume. The shampoo is quite expensive (£4.45 for this tiny bottle!) but you literally only need a pea sized amount to get a good lather and to be honest, I don't mind paying a bit more if it means that I can finally stop washing my hair so often.

I'm so happy to have found this product! What are your favourite hair care products? Do any of you suffer from dreaded greasy hair too?

(can't really believe how much i've just wrote about shampoo. oh well, it's a big thing for me!)

  3. Oooh definitely going to try this! I was like you, but then I literally went two weeks without washing it (eew) and wore a hat the whole time (double eew), and it regulated itself so I generally was only washing it about once a week.
But all of a sudden it's gotten really bad again! I'm using Toni and Guy detox stuff just now which is nice in the way that it really does clean it, but it's also stripping it, which isn't good. So will give this a go :) x

  4. I am obsessed with washing my hair too. I hate how horrible it feels the next day if I don't wash it (I do try but I never feel as good at work etc) I am definitely going to try this! Does it smell nice?

  5. Hannah - I can't believe I've only just found out about it! I think I'll be using it forever from now on ;)

Sya - Your welcome, I hope it helps you too x

Heather - Wow, well done on not washing it for two weeks. I couldn't bring myself to do that.. It's great that you could get away with washing it once a week for a while though x

Tulip & Willow - It completely knocks your confidence when you don't wash - doesn't it? I felt a bit 'off' today but my hair still feels clean so it wasn't so bad. It smells lovely - really fruity! x

  7. Sounds like a miraculous discovery. I have a similar problem, but lots of shampoos and conditioners make the skin on my back break out, so I'm always nervous altering from the ones I know.

  11. Wow thanks for sharing this miracle product! It's great to hear what works for other people. I'll definitely be giving it a go; it's so frustrating having to wash hair every day.

Does it just come in this size bottle, or can you buy bigger?

  12. Fran - If a hairdresser washes my hair it doesn't go greasy for a few days. It's like magic ;) x

Fashion Junkie - Oh no that's a shame. Pity you can't find out what chemical it is or why they make you break out so that you know exactly what to avoid. x

Cherry - Definitely try it - it's so good! x

Kirsti - Aww thanks! It's the shampoo ;) …haha, it really is! x

Kristie - It's so good! Let me know how you like it x

    Flights of Fancy - It comes in 3 different sizes. 100g, 250g, 500g. Here's the link: http://www.lush.co.uk/shop/product/product&product_id=676 x

  13. Thank you so much for the tip off, I tend to wash my hair in the evening and by the following evening it looks like it could do with another wash. Very annoying.

  15. Ack, I am so incredibly happy someone else has this problem! Mine is so bad that I have to wash my hair every morning, because if I wash it at night it will be greasy when I wake up the next day -_-

Definitely going to check this out, thank you!

  18. Finding the right shampoo/conditioner CAN change your life. I LOVE Aussie stuff because it really works on my hair and it smells divine :) I have never tried any Lush products as the shop always smells so strong when I walk past :P

  21. I feel your pain, my hair is really greasy. It was particularly bad a few years ago, where I was literally greasy again by the end of the day after a wash in the morning. I couldn't use conditioner as it made my hair even greasier (actually, I still don't use it much at all).
It's got a little better as I've got older though, and it does mean my hair is quite shiny.
I might check this out, it'd be lovely to go a little longer between washes, instead of needing to be an everyday washer.

  22. Cheryl - If I was my hair in the evening it's greasy by the morning - there's something about sleeping on it that makes it really greasy for me. Hopefully this works for you too x

Sophie - Brilliant, Lush are great for samples! x

Alex - I can't believe how many others have said they have the same problem! Mines is the same if I was it at night, so annoying! x

Lauren - Sounds exactly like my hair - fine and greasy. Hope it works for you x

Geehawkes - Aww thank you :) The cupcakes have had loads of compliments x

Maria - I love Aussie too but it doesn't help with the grease. The smell of Lush can be a bit over-powering but their products are great. x

Char - Me too, so happy! :) x

Klee - Aw thanks! I've kind of got used to it - washing and drying takes me 10 minutes now so it's not a big deal. Once a week?! Jealous! x

Caramel Latte Kiss - That sounds exactly like me. I find the only conditioners that do any good for me are the ones you get free with the hair dyes. Weird! x

  23. I was my hair daily as well. Although going to bed with hair looking quite okay, I wake up with a greasy mess on my head :/ I haven't tried anything from Lush yet, as all the products seem a bit expensive for me, but maybe you just get me to buy my first Lush thing :)

  24. this looks amazing! I wash my hair everyday, it doesn't get THAT greasy washing it every other day but I just feel cleaner and nicer and also when I wake up it looks like I've had a fight with myself in the night ;) I find that thicker shampoos are better to combat greasy hair as opposed to really runny ones. and not using as much conditioner!

  25. You look absolutely gorgeous in that photo! Your hair looks lovely, I love your fringe. I am ashamed to admit I wash my hair probably every 4 or 5 days. It looks rubbish the 1st and 2nd day after I've washed it so I tend not to do it as often - plus I'm such a lazy bum! Lush are so good at recommending products that will help aren't they? Glad you've found something works for you.

  27. I'm not sure if you'll get this but I stumbled upon your blog from Morven - Cats and Rocking Chairs. I have the same issue with shampooing and greasiness god forbid the hairdressers use conditioner when they wash before a cut! SO I thought I might mention what also works for me!! The rainforest balance shampoo from the body shop works well. It isn't amazing but it's done the job for a long time UNTIL one day I decided to try the earth lovers shower gel - also from the body shop!

I know it's shower gel right? But like they say not to wash your hair everyday I'm sure they'd suggest not to wash your hair with shower gel hahaha. So I decided to give it a go and since it said it was suitable for sensitive skin I thought meh, it wont do anything too bad I'm sure. And you know what. It's freaking amazing.

Not sure if you have a Body Shop in Glasgow, but hey. Thought a mention might be just as good or if your ever desperate I'd send one over for you. Cause sometimes I find some things that work only seem to work for a bit and you have to find something else.

Anyways have fun and keep bloggin' :D x
